OOn 10 March 2019, Peter boarded a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in Kenya along with 14 other Canadians headed to Ethiopia. He was to attend a world-wide environmental conference where he would promote the mass planting of trees by private woodlot owners around the world as a way to help offset climate breakdown. Trees were Peter’s thing.. and sustainable agriculture... and food security.

 

A gentle, intelligent and dedicated human being was this neighbour of mine. Six minutes after takeoff the flight crashed near the town of Bishoftu, killing all 157 people aboard. Just like that the earth shifted beneath his family’s feet and their world would never be the same again The impact on our community was great.
