France has the most magical medieval villages, frozen in time, and leaving echos of what once was.

Doorways and windows are some of my favourite things to paint. They provoke in me a sense of wonder about who has come in and out of that structure over time and has gazed out that window... perhaps in anticipation of something.

This is a scene from one of the villages we visited as we toured and painted with Karlyn Holman... brilliant teacher and beautiful soul.
