This is another portrait commissioned by a grandmother, who simply worships this little lad. It's the grin that draws me!

I love working in charcoal... it is so tactile. As facial features are developed one becomes attuned to 3 dimensionality; it feels like sculpting to me.

This was done from a photo. While I have never met this delightful face, it made a stamp in my memory.
