There is a story to go with this piece.

It was commissioned by a husband who wanted to surprise his wife on a very important birthday. He didn’t have a picture with both dogs (one of which had passed away) and his wife, altogether. So he gave me a memory stick with many individual pictures and my task was to bring them together in a good composition. It was a challenge and the timeline was very tight but I got it done just in time. I was thrilled with the result and sent him a digital proof, fully expecting his stamp of approval. I was WRONG. While he was thrilled with portrait as a whole, he gently told me that I had painted the same dog twice!!! Different lighting, different angle, different stages of haircuts… but the same dog! And only a few days left before the big day! After I quit panicking, and made a deal with the framer, I got down to work and transformed one dog into a totally different dog.
