LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY

Prehistoric caves continue to be discovered in many places throughout Europe. I had the good fortune to have visited such a cave at Peche Merle in southwest France. It was humbling to be in the presence of artwork done by ancient clans from over 30,000 years ago. Drawings on the walls communicated the existence of various clans who called this cave home over the centuries. The drawings were done to 'claim' the cave by various clans who would draw with natural manganese or ochre rock over previous art of other clans no longer inhabiting the cave. I was transported.
